At HopeWorks Foundation, we’re not only focused on supporting our girls through their college education and professional employment but also take a keen interest in issues concerning their health and wellness. And, this past Sunday was a fantastic experience in this direction, with a menstrual wellness workshop hosted by an esteemed visiting faculty.
Our special session on “Menstrual Cycle & Hygiene” was led by the incredible Nirmala Gowda Nayak, a multi-talented counselor, Chakra therapist, and yoga enthusiast!
Here are some highlights from the session that left us inspired and informed:
🌼 “You are ruled by your hormones”: Nirmala beautifully explained how our hormones play a significant role in our lives, affecting our moods, energy levels, and overall well-being.
🍂 “Each Phase is a Different Season”: She guided us through the various phases of the menstrual cycle, likening them to the changing seasons. Understanding these phases can help us adapt to our bodies’ needs better.
🌿 “Your Kitchen is a Pharmacy”: Nirmala emphasized the importance of nutrition, showcasing how the food we eat can act as medicine, especially during our menstrual cycle.
🧠 “4 Players: Brain, Hormones, Ovaries, Uterus”: We delved into the intricate interplay between these four key players in a woman’s reproductive health.
😊 “Menstrual Health and Emotions”: Nirmala shed light on the emotional aspects of menstrual health, helping us embrace this natural process with greater ease.
🧘♀️ “Yoga & Meditation”: We explored the power of yoga and meditation in promoting menstrual well-being and overall health.
We are immensely grateful to Nirmala Gowda Nayak for sharing her wisdom and knowledge with us, and a heartfelt thank you to Kavitha Garla, for facilitating this empowering session. It’s through such sessions that we educate and empower our girls to take charge of their health and embrace their true potential.
Let’s continue this journey of health and wellness together!
