Mentors are like the lighthouse that guides the ship during the dark. When our girls are seeking direction, or someone to lean into and to have someone to share their successes and some failures, the mentors become the guide posts, the cheer leaders and of course the counsellors.
The role they play in mentoring our girls is incredibly important in helping them navigate through the challenges of life and play the very tough deck of cards they have been dealt with in life.
Who qualifies as a mentor for our girls?
If you are
- Someone with empathy to walk with our girls and journey with them.
- A person who has a bias for action and to be able to be consistent with action. You need to show up for our girls consistently every month (virtually) at least two times. Two 1 hr sessions are what is recommended.
- Able to understand our girls represent the most underserved communities in India and hence their communication skills, digital literacy, social skills will be at the lower end of the spectrum.
- Capable of unlearning the mental models of mentoring that you already have about mentoring and learn a whole new way of being a life mentor for a young girl.
- If you have some work experience, it would be of much help.
